General Information
The Edna Valley appellation produces very distinctive Syrah grapes
that result in wines of both sophistication and elegance. Since the
2002 vintage was cool, this wine has a uniquely distinctive Syrah
character: white pepper, plum, smoke, and blackberry notes. This wine
was carefully aged in new and one year old French oak barrels in order
to limit the influence of oak and to allow its complex fruit notes to
stand out. These aromas are perfectly aligned with the wine's
beautiful structure and soft mouth feel. Herzog Syrah Special Reserve
is exquisite now and may be aged, under proper conditions for three to
four years past vintage. Savor it with roasts, pasta dishes with meat,
or veal piccata. This wine is unfiltered and may form some sediment as
it ages.
Kosher For Passover
Winemaker's Note
Aromas of violet, raspberry, and spice, well structured, with soft
mouth-feel. Best Served With: Pasta, seasoned preparations of beef,
veal and chicken.
