Awards
Decanter-4 Stars
"A delicate, creamy texture. Peach and citrus flavours with pleasant
nutty touch on the finish. Drink now-2006."
Patterson's Beverage Journal-Editor's Award
"C" Blanc du Castel from Domaine du Castel, a Burgundian style
Chardonnay that speaks of the flinty rocks that surround the vines.
Lemon notes abound, but the fruit is well balanced by a striking
acidity, subtle oak and a world-class finish. Produced in the Judean
Hills region; barrel fermented in 2/3 new French Oak.
Wine News 91 Points
Burgundian style; light body; buttery, redolent of pear, apple,
pineapple; easy drinking; soft texture.
New York Sun Food & Drink
Israel's most buttery, almost butterscotchy chardonnay. Voluptuos as
it is, it seems more Bugundian than Califonian. In 2003, "C" was a tad
leaner than usual. From a deluxe winery nestled in the hills south of
Jerusalem.
Daniel Rogov 94 Points
(Barrel Tasting) Rich, complex and opulent, with layer after layer of
citrus, fig, pear, apricot, spices and smoky, toasty oak, a wine that
opens beautifully on the palate, offering up forward flavors and
aromas while maintaining its sense of finesse and elegance.
Approachable from release but best 2007-2010. Tentative Score 92-94
Daniel Rogov 92 Points
Light golden in color, medium-to full-bodied with generous but
intentionally subdued influences of the wood. Deeply aromatic with
tempting citrus, melon, pear and tropical fruit aromas and flavors,
those coming to a creamy and long finish. Best 2007-2009. Score 92
