Other
Amaretto
is an Italian sweet almond-flavored liqueur. It is made from a base
of apricot or almond pits, or sometimes both.
Brandy
(from brandywine, derived from Dutch brandewijn—"burnt
wine") is a spirit produced by distilling wine, the wine having
first been produced by fermenting grapes.
Cognac
(pronounced /'k?njæk/), named after the town of Cognac in France,
is the most famous variety of brandy. It is produced in the wine-growing
region surrounding the town from which it takes its name, in the
French Departments of Charente and Charente-Maritime.
Sherry
is a fortified wine made from white grapes that are grown
near the town of Jerez, Spain. In Spanish, it is called vino de
Jerez.
Port
The history of Portuguese wine has been influenced by Portugal's
relative isolationism in the world's wine market, with the one notable
exception of its relationship with the British. |

Multispecies
hybrid grapes Vinifera hybrids (wine)
Hybrid
grape varieties (see Hybrid grapes) or "hybrids" is, in
fact, the popular term for a subset of what are properly known as
hybrids, specifically crossings between one species of the genus
vitis and another. The scientific definition of a hybrid grape is
any crossing (intra- or inter-specific) of two grape varieties.
In keeping with the popular definition, however, the ones listed
below are inter-specific hybrids where one parent is a European
grape.
